Turmeric shots are a great way to get the benefits of turmeric without having to eat or drink it in powder form.

Turmeric shots are easy and convenient to make, and they can be enjoyed any time of day.

Turmeric Shots Benefits

Turmeric is a well known plant in Ayurvedic medicine and it holds a large host of benefits that we are starting to understand and embrace more and more in our Western world.

We have written a blog specifically on this topic, which you can find here.

Each ingredient in this shot has been included for a reason:

Fresh turmeric is recommended over powdered turmeric for this recipe, because it is more easily absorbed by the body when it is fresh. It is also believed that the fresh turmeric contains more nutrients.

Honey is an antibacterial and antifungal agent. It is often used to soothe sore throats and treat coughs, while also used topically to treat burns, dry skin and acne.

Black Pepper is usually added to any mixture containing turmeric. It helps to activate the turmeric, increasing its bioavailability.

Ginger is loaded with antioxidants which help the body fight off disease. It also assists with digestion.

Orange Juice, along with the ginger, honey and turmeric, is also an incredible anti-inflammatory. Oranges are very high in antioxidants and Vitamin C, which is vital in the healing process.

Lemons are rich in vitamins and dietary fibers that can help to regulate your digestion.

How often should you drink Turmeric shots?

Turmeric shots are particularly good for when you are feeling under the weather. But they can also be taken every day to get in extra vitamins and to make sure your immune system stays strong.

Turmeric is also a slow-moving herb, meaning it takes some time before you will see any long-lasting effects. For this reason, it would be beneficial to consume turmeric in this form daily, so that it has time to work and you know you’re getting enough of it.

Many people enjoy drinking it first thing in the morning. It will definitely wake you up!

This fiery drink is incredibly simple to make and what’s great is that you don’t need to drink a lot at a time, so you can conveniently make a week's worth with, one time, with only a few ingredients.

What you need:

2 tsp grated Fresh turmeric, or if you only have ground turmeric then you can use that-make sure it hasn’t expired though!

1 Tbsp Honey

A pinch of Black Pepper

2 tsp grated Ginger, or 1/2 tsp ginger powder

1 Orange

2 Lemons

Instructions

  1. Wash the turmeric, ginger, lemons and orange well. And then peel the lemons and orange. It isn’t necessary to peel off the skin of the turmeric and ginger.
  2. Add all the ingredients to a juicer or blender. If you are using a blender, you may need to strain the juice afterwards if you don’t want the fibers.
  3. Store in a closed container or bottle and keep in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Enjoy while cold!
